FAQ
What is chevron flooring?
Chevron flooring is a parquet pattern where planks are cut at an angle (typically 45°) and meet at a point to create a seamless, arrow-like design. Unlike herringbone, the ends align perfectly to form a clean V, adding strong visual direction to a space and making rooms feel longer.
What types of chevron flooring are available?
We currently offer chevron engineered wood flooring only. Engineered wood is an excellent choice for chevron floors because its multi-layer construction resists the natural movement of solid wood, keeping the precise angles stable over time.
What types of interiors does parquet chevron flooring suit?
Chevron parquet flooring works well in living rooms, hallways, dining rooms and bedrooms. The directional pattern draws the eye and adds a sense of length, making it particularly effective in narrower spaces like hallways. It suits both period properties, where it complements original features, and modern interiors, where the clean geometry adds character without decoration.
What colours and finishes does chevron flooring come in?
Our chevron wood flooring is currently available in smoked grey with a brushed and oiled finish. This finish accentuates the natural grain and gives the floor a tactile, matte appearance that ages well. For a wider choice of colours and finishes, explore our engineered wood flooring collection, or browse similar options across our herringbone parquet range.
How to lay chevron flooring
Laying engineered chevron flooring requires careful preparation and precise execution. Acclimatise planks in the room for at least 48 hours, then ensure the subfloor is clean, dry and level (a suitable engineered wood underlay will help with minor irregularities). Draw a chalk line down the centre of the room and dry lay your first row before committing. Work outward from the centre, maintain a 10–15mm expansion gap around the perimeter, and finish with skirting or beading once any adhesive has cured.
The angled pattern of wooden chevron flooring demands a high level of accuracy, so if you’re unsure, we recommend hiring a professional installer.
